Eco-Port Kyushu Co., Ltd. is a joint venture operation established by the JP Group in conjunction with the Ishizaka Group, a valuable resource recycling cooperative, located in Kumamoto Prefecture. Eco-Port Kyushu accepts wastepaper, wooden waste, and plastic waste materials from businesses and the community and carries out comprehensive recycling activities aimed at achieving the efficient re-use of waste materials through a combination of material recycling, which involves the recycling of recovered materials into reusable resources and thermal recycling, which is the recycling of materials into fuels.
Business Activities
- 1. Dissolving of confidential document and manufacture of paper
- 2. Recycling of waste plastic materials
- 3. Manufacture of wooden raw material resources
- 4. Production of solid RPF
* Total annual recycling capacity: approximately 100,000 tons
Accepted Waste Products and Recycled Resources

Confidential Document Dissolving and Paper Manufacturing
-

*Dissolving of Confidential Documents
Waste documents including those containing confidential and personal information from public offices and private companies are safely and efficiently destroyed under the protection of the latest state-of-the-art security systems and surveillance cameras and turned into recovered paper pulp for use as the raw materials in the manufacture of recycled paper.
-

*Production of Crepe Paper
We produce crepe paper cushioning material using wastepaper derived from confidential documents and newspapers. Crepe paper is used as wrapping for crockery and as a packing material to protect packages and luggage when moving house.
Recycling of Waste Plastic Materials
-

*Primary Sorting of Waste Plastics
Plastic waste collected from households is sorted to remove paper, metal and all other scrap materials. Plastic containers and other plastic only packaging is then fed into a press and compressed into plastic bales.
-

*Recycling of Plastic Materials
Bales containing used plastic containers and packaging are sorted according to their constituent materials using a state-of-the-art optical sorting machine and then turned into recycled resin pellets. Through these activities, we are promoting a curbing of the use of the fossil fuels that are being depleted and also the efficient use of recycled resources.
Production of Wooden Raw Materials
-

Wooden biomass fuel pellets are produced from wooden chips created by crushing up wooden construction waste, wooden pallets and material from forest thinnings. The wooden pellets produced are mainly used as fuel in household heating systems and by electricity companies as fuel used in the generation of electricity. In the future we are planning to promote the use of these pellets for construction material applications.
Production of Solid Recovered Fuels (RPF)
-

RPF (Refuse Paper & Plastic Fuel) is a solid fuel produced from waste plastics, wastepaper and wooden scraps. By subjecting industrial waste to thermal recycling, it is possible to reduce fuel costs and CO2 emissions generated during the production process. At Eco-Port Kyushu we are producing RPF predominantly from the mill residue generated by our production processes, with the ultimate aim of achieving a zero-emission status for the mill.
