JP Enters the Large-scale Solar Energy Generation (Mega Solar Power Plant) Business

Japan Pulp and Paper Company Limited (hereinafter, JP) has decided to enter the large-scale solar energy generation (mega solar power plant) business, taking advantage of the government’s Feed-in Tariff Scheme for Renewable Energy.

Recently, the JP Group has been focusing on resource and environment-related activities as important business segments and increasing its investments and participation in operations that include the recycling of waste papers, plastics and wooden materials and the manufacture of household paper products using recovered paper resources. Furthermore, in the alternative energy sector, JP already has a subsidiary involved in biomass power generation and has also invested in two solar power generation ventures.

Utilizing the know-how gained from its involvement in resource and environment-related business activities, as part of the company’s contribution to alleviating the recent instability in the supply of electricity, JP will take this opportunity to further strengthen its environmental conservation activities as the main contractor in the development of a large-scale solar energy generation (mega solar power plant) operation.

While drawing revenue from the sale of electricity through the Feed-in Tariff Scheme for Renewable Energy, JP will continue to further its knowledge and know-how in regard to the resource and environment-related business fields and endeavor to expand those of its business activities that directly contribute to the betterment of society.
