Japan Pulp and Paper Company Limited (JP) hereby announce the establishment of a new representative office in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Consistently stable economic growth in Vietnam has seen the consumption of paper and paperboard increase on an annual basis. For many years JP and its Group companies have been actively involved in the export of paper from Japan to Vietnam while also facilitating trade between Vietnam and other countries. During this time, local market research has been primarily conducted through a representative office established in the southern city of Ho Chi Minh by one of JP’s subsidiaries. Meanwhile since 2006, another of JP’s subsidiaries has been manufacturing household paper products in the northern city of Hanoi.

In recent years, particularly in the northern region that includes Hanoi and Haiphong, the government has been proactively enticing businesses into the region, which has not only boosted the number of enterprises making a foray into the area, but has also led to a diversification in the products that Vietnam now produces while simultaneously segmenting the market.

It is given this economic and political environment that JP has made the decision to establish a representative office to enhance its local market research capabilities with the aim of seeking further business opportunities in the Vietnamese market.
