Japan Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Akihiko Watanabe, President; hereinafter, “the Company”) announces that OVOL Singapore Pte. Ltd. (headquartered in Singapore; hereinafter, “OVOL SG”), a consolidated subsidiary of the Company has acquired all the shares in Transam Industries Pte Ltd, a company that converts and distributes thermal transfer ribbons in Singapore.
OVOL SG has acquired the shares in accordance with its business policy for the Non-Japan Wholesaling segment set out in the Medium-term Business Plan 2023. The policy is to strengthen its sales of paper related material by way of product diversification that is complementary to its existing sales network and to create additional value and revenue streams through M&A activities. The details of the acquisition are as follows.

Thermal transfer ribbons are used to print variable data on numerous applications where high durability, heat, chemical, and weather resistance properties are often required.
Demand for thermal transfer ribbons continue to grow, especially in food packaging, logistics, automotive, electronics, medical and textile appications.
OVOL SG, the biggest paper wholesaler in Singapore, is also working to expand sales of higher value-added products such as sign and display products. This acquisition will drive OVOL SG’s efforts to diversify from its existing business to more value added products by new partners contributing new know-how.
