OVOL Singapore Pte. Ltd. (Head Office: Singapore; Chief Executive Officer: Genevieve Chua), a member of the Japan Pulp & Paper Group (Head Office: President and CEO: Akihiko Watanabe), has been awarded a Gold Medal in the 2023 rating by EcoVadis (Head Office: France), an international sustainability assessment agency.
EcoVadis is a company that provides holistic sustainability rating service of companies. It rates and continually monitors companies’ ESG management and progress. As global sustainability awareness grows, many global companies are increasingly adopting EcoVadis’ assessments as one of the criteria for selecting suppliers. EcoVadis assesses companies on their policies, actions, and results in four sustainability themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Currently, more than 100,000 companies in 175 countries and 200 industries have been assessed by EcoVadis.
OVOL Singapore was the first company in Singapore's paper and printing industry to obtain FSC certification in 2007. In recent years, OVOL Singapore has also become the first company in the paper industry to obtain the "LowCarbonSG" mark, an initiative of the UN Global Compact Network Singapore's Decarbonization arm. The company has also been actively engaged in a variety of social contribution activities, including participation in the "One Million Trees Initiative," a tree-planting program led by the Singaporean government since 2021, as well as in-house environmental training and education programs. The Gold Medal was awarded to the company this time in recognition of the accumulation of such activities. The Gold Medal is awarded to the top 5% of all EcoVadis registered companies.
