Overseas Activities
Utilizing the know-how and experience gained from many years of involvement in the domestic recovered paper recycling business in Japan, JP’s first foray into the recycling sector outside of Japan started in 1998 with the acquisition of a recovered paper recycling business in Los Angeles, USA. Ten years later, in China and against the backdrop of remarkable economic growth and soaring paper production and consumption volumes, JP formed a joint venture with a local enterprise and together established a recovered paper recycling business in the Chinese market and began to steadily increase its recovered paper transaction volumes. In 2011, JP increased its overseas presence commencing operations at a further two recovered paper recycling companies in the Los Angeles area. With operations in America and China, the world’s largest producers and consumers of paper, the JP Group is making steady progress in expanding its global recovered paper recycling activities.

Safeshred handles the treatment and processing of general and office waste papers, including sensitive and confidential documents, collected in special secure containers from major businesses and federal and municipal government agencies mainly located in the southern California area as part of the JP Group’s constantly expanding recovered paper recycling activities.
Furthermore in 2011, Pan Pacific Fiber and JRS Resources came under the JP Group umbrella and combined with Safeshred to effectively form a wastepaper collection triangle, strategically situated within 15-20km of each other and only 20km from the Los Angeles port facilities. These three businesses are utilizing their synergetic advantage to further enhance the JP Group’s wastepaper collection and shipping activities in southern California.

Given the remarkable economic growth and increasing demand for paper in China and the JP Group’s long-term expansion plans for its wastepaper procurement activities, in 2008 JP entered into a joint venture with a local Chinese company to establish a recovered paper recycling operation. The Tianjin yard occupies more than 5,600m2 and supplies neighboring paper manufacturers with recycled recovered paper.
